WING 2 is part of the phased redevelopment of the former hospital site in Overleie, within a broader urban master plan. This phase includes the demolition of an existing parking lot and student housing 'The Wing', followed by the construction of a new student residence with 241 rooms, collective facilities, an underground parking lot and a bicycle shed.
The building is conceived as three vertical volumes on a ground-level plinth. The plinth reinforces the presence on the Burgemeester Vercruysselaan and activates the street level. The upper volumes vary in height and provide a transition to the surrounding buildings and the already completed first phase. Between the volumes, vistas to the green area behind are created.

Site
The site is located in the inner city of Kortrijk, north of the Leie and south of the inner city ring road R36 Burgemeester Vercruysselaan. It is part of the building block R36 Proosdijstraat Diksmuidekaai Albertpark and has a total area of 14,326 m².
The former hospital site borders the Sint-Amands school site to the west, a green and sports zone to the south, residential buildings to the east and Burgemeester Vercruysselaan to the north. An important north-south bicycle connection runs along the site. The project provides a public east-west thoroughfare that connects to this bicycle axis and makes the inner area accessible. The site will be pitted and greened, creating a spacious park zone in connection with the surrounding open space.
Planting and surrounding landscaping.
The building will be planted in the northeastern zone of the site and follow the front building line of Phase 1, creating a spacious front zone on Mayor Vercruyssel Avenue.
The landscaping plan provides for a public east-west connection between the street and north-south bicycle axis, a park zone with a green amphitheater that accommodates the difference in height with the sports fields, and a green campus zone with paths and living spaces for students.
Environmental landscaping includes swept concrete pavements for fire roads and entrances, informal park paths in permeable crushed stone, flower meadows with native species, standard trees and shrub massifs. Underground parking will be provided with 27 car spaces and 6 motorcycle spaces. In addition, there is a semi-underground bicycle storage for 241 bicycles, accessible via a bicycle ramp from the park.
