CONSTRUCTIS DEINZE

Deinze

....

Along the Kouter in Deinze stands a contemporary office building carefully implanted in a sloping plot. The design was originally conceived as a coherent ensemble of an office and an accompanying view house, where the office would be detached on the left side of the plot and the view house on the right. Only the office was realized, but the original implantation remains palpable in the spatial design: the open space between the two volumes was intended to form a green, inviting zone that visually and functionally connects the buildings.

The result is an office that subtly exploits the slope of the site, has a warm and inviting appearance and offers a strong spatial experience. Although the view house was not realized, the original implantation as a concept remains palpable in the open, green space surrounding the building and contributes to a coherent and harmonious ensemble in the small-scale context.

Project information

The office floor is conceived as an open plan, supporting the ideal working environment for employees. Workspaces, meeting rooms and support functions are strategically positioned around a central circulation space, providing both overview and flexibility. This layout creates a fluid relationship between zones for concentrated work, consultation and social interaction. The open character of the floors, combined with the large window openings, ensures optimal daylighting and a transparent, inviting atmosphere.

The rising terrain is a defining element in the spatial experience of the building. The difference in height is subtly used to visually anchor the plinth and office volume, while the open and light work floors and varying floor depths create a sense of dynamism and transparency. The top floor's green roof and accompanying terrace enhance the connection to the outdoor space and provide a pleasant environment for relaxation and interaction.

The office building rests on a semi-sunken parking pedestal that provides pleasant accessibility and allows light and air through openings around the contours of the volume. The wide gate at the front welcomes visitors naturally. The exterior walls of the plinth are executed in concrete, while the internal walls received a sleek finish in aluminum, giving the building a modern and robust base.

Above this pedestal rises the office volume, with a second floor occupying the majority of the building and a subtly withdrawn second floor. The facades combine large window openings with deeper aluminum frames that create an elegant play of light and shadow. The masonry exhibits a calm rhythm of vertical and horizontal dressings, giving a timeless and balanced appearance, reinforced by the understated but recognizable company logo on the front facade.

Around the office building, green buffers and hedge planting along the plot boundaries provide harmonious integration into the small-scale context. The design emphasizes a balance between functional efficiency and spatial quality, clearly distinguishing the building as a contemporary office but at the same time respecting the scale of its surroundings.
